Combined forwarding can be divided into the following two transport systems:
- unaccompanied combined forwarding, i.e. transport made by big-capacity containers, trailers or swap bodies
- accompanied combined forwarding (so called Ro-La transport), i.e. transport of road vehicles (including crew) by trains consisting of special low-platform railway carriages.
